Wood Choices

We offer a wide variety of woods to choose from. Some folks choose their wood for the color or the grain while others choose their wood for its meaning.

Choosing the wood for your ring can be quite challenging for some, especially when the ring is a surprise for someone. Not to worry, during the design process I assist our clients in narrowing down their options and help them decide on the best wood(s) for their design and personality.

In the past, the durability of the wood was a deciding factor as some woods are considerably stronger than others. With our new finish, durability is no longer an issue!

African Blackwood draws off the elements of earth, wind and water. It represents strength and determination. It possess healing powers. Our Blackwood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Apple wood is symbolic of youth, beauty, happiness and the presence of love. It is associated with immortality, virtue and is a symbol of creativity. Apple fruit is the symbol of purity and motherhood. Our Apple wood comes from the Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada. We gathered branches that were pruned from an orchard while visiting family. We also have Pear wood which is very similar in color and grain.

Ash wood symbolizes sacrifice, sensitivity and higher awareness. Ash carries the qualities of ambition, trustworthiness and faithfulness. Ash speaks to us of growth, expansion and heightens our ability to stay grounded. Our Ash wood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Beech wood symbolizes tolerance, past knowledge and softening criticism. Beech is a wood of femininity. It inspires creativity as well as love and romance. It promotes leadership and companionship. Our Beech wood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Birch wood is associated with new beginnings and cleansing of the past and vision quests. It provokes renewal and rebirth. Birch is also a wood with great powers to purify and discipline. Our Birch wood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Cherry wood is the tree of the heart, teaching us the lessons of clearing the pain of the heart and relating to others in a compassionate manner. It stimulates pure energy of will and desire. The cherry fruit is magically linked to the root chakra and so to sex and birth: the life force of attraction and renewal. Our Cherry wood also comes from the Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada.

Hawaiian Koa is know to enlighten the mind and create dramatic openings into the energy and circuitry of our bodies. It invokes energy and the creation of life. Our Hawaiian Koa is from a furniture company in Hawaii. The wood is leftovers that would have otherwise been scrapped. We were glad to put it to good use.

Juniper wood (and Juniper Heartwood) holds powers of protection, strength, peace and love. Juniper is connected to good health and banishing anything injurious to health. It is also know to assist in dream interpretation. Juniper is a symbol of longevity. Charlie’s Uncle has a property in the Okanagan which is the home of our Willow and Juniper wood.

Leopard wood is symbolic of strength and creativity. It is known for it’s protective qualities. Our Leopard wood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Mahogany is a magestic tree that symbolizes strength and energy. Mahogony has protective qualities and represents dependability, simplicity and friendliness. Our Mahogany comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Maple trees meanings include balance, promise and practicality. It holds the qualities of creation, rebirth, healing, beauty, art, and abundance. It inspires imagination and originality. Those who are always on the move will feel right at home with the energy it provides. Maple is the tree of offering, giving of one’s self so that others may benefit. Oak wood teaches us strength of character and how to keep our bodies strong and healthy. It is excellent for protection, defense, prosperity and sacrifice. It carries the energy of kingship and invokes wisdom, courage, fertility, and abundance. Our Oak wood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Olive wood has both sentimental and religious significance. It is a symbol of peace fertility and prosperity. Our Olive wood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Pine is the tree of peace. The pine tree inspires creativity and symbolizes longevity and immortality. Pine is excellent for healing, protection and purification. Our pine is from the Cariboo Valley in Northern BC. It was salvaged from the trees that were killed when the pine beetle infested our forests.

Purple Heartwood seeks a wise practiced companion. It is used for protection, spirituality, success and defense. Excellent for divination. Our Purple Heartwood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Rosewood symbolizes kindness and a good heart. It is said to interact with man by spirituallity and mentally harmomizing. Primarily femine it is focused on health and beauty. Our Rosewood comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store.

Willow has a close association to the moon. It is known to enhance psyshic abilities and increase the essence of love in our lives. It invokes deeper connections and and a clearer understanding of the world. It is known to promote magic, healing, inner vision and dreams. Walnut is known to use equinox energy to awaken abundance, prosperity and wisdom. Walnut initiates initiation and encourages one to accomplish their dreams. It holds the power of rebirth. Our Walnut comes from the scrap bin at our local lumber store. Honey Walnut, Dark Walnut and Black Walnut are available.
